SAN FERNANDO CITY, July 16 (PIA) – Among the four provincial winners, the Castañeda family of Bayambang, Pangasinan was hailed recently by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as region 1’s Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya for 2019.

The Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya of Castañeda believes and lives by the core values of love, perseverance and service to others.

The Lomboy family of Burgos, La Union; Sanchez family of Narvacan, Ilocos Sur; and Aderes family of Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte ranked first, second and third runners-up, respectively.

They were recognized in a simple awarding ceremony held at the Panlipunan hall of the DSWD-1 attended by the different provincial winners and runners-up.  

“We continue to push for the annual recognition of these families especially of those in the impoverished sector who have made contributions to the community and uplifted their lives because they serve as inspiration to others that there is hope to better their lives,” Marcelo Nicomedes Castillo, DSWD-1 regional director, said.

Meanwhile, Irish Mancera of Banna, Ilocos Norte was hailed exemplary Pantawid Pamilya child for the year.

Mancera is focused on continuing learning and developing her skills and talents, and fosters good relationship with her family members, classmates and teachers that helped her earn the said recognition.

Nescia Gwyneth Rances of Candon City, Ilocos Sur; John Carlo Mamaril of San Fernnado City, La Union; and Syra Lian Menosaba of Tayug, Pangasinan were awarded first, second and third runners-up, respectively.

Kristine Nicole Bumadilla, second runner up during the national search for the exemplary Pantawid children and last year’s regional winner, encouraged the regional finalists to always give their best and continue inspiring other children.  

The regional winners will be joining the national search for the Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya and Exemplary Pantawid Pamilya Children. (AMB/JDS/PIA-1 La Union)
